On the top side of the flute between the mouthpiece and totem, you will see an inlaid Seven Generations symbol. In the center of the symbol there is a diamond that represents you or me or the present. The triangles to the left bring to mind our parents, grandparents,

and great grandparents or our ancestry or the past. The triangles to the right represent our children, grandchildren, and great grandparents or our ancestry or the past. The triangles to the right represent our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren or our posterity or the future.

Good decisions and good behaviors happen as we can consider the past three generations, present, and future to three generations at the same time as we consider the four principles of connection, thoughtfulness, respect and sustainability.
