Rocky Mountain Juniper and Eastern Red Cedar are closely related. Rocky Mountain Juniper is native to the west and grows where the pine tree start to grow on mountains. The beautiful red color found in only a few of the trees make for extremely beautiful flutes.

Because the wood grows in a drier climate that Eastern Red Cedar, it is denser and makes a better sounding instrument.
